If you're looking for an open-source AI assistant that runs locally, OpenClaw is one of the more capable options out there — it supports multiple model backends and works on Windows, macOS, and Linux without requiring a cloud account. The open source AI coding space has matured quickly. OpenCode gives you a terminal-native agent that works with any model backend, and GitHub Copilot CLI brings AI suggestions directly into your shell if you prefer a managed service.
