Layers of Place: MIT — 1 to Infinity, MIT

1 to Infinity: MIT by Danny Goldfield

1 to Infinity, MIT is a portrait photography series that aims to feature one person from the MIT community at each age: 1 year old, 2 years old, 3, 4, and so on. The project began on the first day of the Spring 2025 semester. With the help of many, we hope to include someone from every age.

There are two 1 to Infinity, MIT Augmented Reality Hoverlay Spaces in the Layers of Place AR exhibition. Each is shaped by the exact dimensions of a physical location at MIT but can be viewed anywhere in the world using the Hoverlay app on a smartphone and these 2 weblinks:

Space 1: Lobby 7

Molded to the 50-foot diameter and 75-foot height of Lobby 7 at MIT.

Users can see which numbers are already included in the series and which ones are still missing.

Space 2: Infinite Corridor

Molded to the 5 by 8 by 225-foot dimensions of the Infinite Corridor at MIT.

Users must walk through the portraits to experience them all.
