Beyza Boyacioglu is a filmmaker and artist from Istanbul. Her work has been exhibited in venues and festivals including MoMA Documentary Fortnight, MoMA PS1, IDFA DocLab, RIDM, Creative Time Summit, Venice Biennial, Morelia International Film Festival and !f Istanbul. She co-directed the award-winning short film “Toñita’s” during her fellowship at UnionDocs in 2013. Currently she is a fellow at Greenhouse Program for documentary filmmakers from Middle East and North Africa where she is developing a cross-platform documentary: “A Prince from Outer Space: Zeki Müren.” The project includes a telephone hotline, an interactive web experience, and a feature documentary.
She is the recipient of grants and awards from LEF Foundation, Meetings on the Bridge (Istanbul Film Festival), SALT Research, Council for the Arts at MIT and MIT Public Service Fellowship. She has an MSc in Comparative Media Studies from MIT and an MFA in Computer Art from School of Visual Arts.
