Paul Levinson (Fordham University): The merge of documentary and the interactive medium is exactly what we have here, the documentary and the digital revolution merging together.

Bjarke Myrthu (Blind Spot): In the last decades we have experienced a few technological waves: the Internet 1.0 and around 2004-2005 the second wave. And we are seeing the third wave now. Some of the big institutional founders have invested in interactive documentaries, primarily Arte and NFB, and thanks to them lots of interesting projects and works have emerged.

William Uricchio (MIT Open Documentary Lab): Players are very important as they are part of this process: games enhance the concept of interactivity and interactive documentary takes advantage of that. The other thing to take into account is the fact that the digital revolution allowed interactivity to take new ways unknown in the past.

Caspar Sonnen (IDFA Doclab): The pioneers of interactive documentary are keeping an eye on what’s happening in the advertising world because the money is there. Lots of web agencies work for big commercial clients to make money, and they do interactive documentaries to fulfill their artistic and spiritual needs…
