Multimedia artist Jackson 2bears, known as Tékeniyáhsen Ohkwá reimagines the Haudenosaunee creation story through an immersive virtual reality project titled “Ne:Kahwistará:ken Kanónhsa’kówa í:se Onkwehonwe” Hosted by MIT’s Co-Creation Studio, 2bears collaborates with Thru the RedDoor and the Six Nations community to create a virtual longhouse, merging storytelling, drumming, and cultural practices in a shared space. Despite challenges like the unexpected burning of the physical longhouse, the project evolved into a 360-degree immersive experience, premiered at the 2RO MEDIA Festival to enthusiastic acclaim. 2bears envisions future iterations as interactive, living installations reflecting community engagement.
