Beyza Boyacioglu is an award-winning documentarian and media artist from Istanbul. Her projects explore issues of gender and identity, and almost always include an element of music. Currently she is producing a cross-platform documentary about Turkey’s queer pop legend Zeki Müren. The project includes an interactive web experience Zeki Müren Hotline that was premiered at IDFA DocLab 2016 and a feature length documentary which is currently in production. Her previous film Toñita’s was produced during her fellowship at UnionDocs and was premiered at MoMA Documentary Fortnight 2014. She programmed a documentary series named Fiction-Non at Maysles Cinema and she is currently a guest programmer for Pink Life Queer Fest – Turkey’s first LGBTQ film festival. Boyacioglu has an MSc in Comparative Media Studies from MIT and an MFA in Computer Art from School of Visual Arts.
