Hollow is an interactive documentary and community participatory project that examines the future of rural America through the eyes and voices of those living in McDowell County, W.Va. Hollow combines video portraits, data visualizations, photography, soundscapes, community-generated content and grassroots mapping to bring these stories to life through an online experience.
Director/Producer Elaine McMillion and other artists involved in the making of HOLLOW will attend in person for Q&A.
Elaine McMillion is an award-winning documentary filmmaker whose short and feature works focus on unique individuals with striking and inspiring stories. She uses techniques gained through journalism, in addition to experience in research, audio/video production and photography, to express a story visually through multiple mediums.
McMillion has a Master’s degree from Emerson College and was recently named one of this year’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film by Filmmaker Magazine.
