Filmmaker Frederik Rieckher created this interactive online documentary in 2010. Described by IDFA as “a rich media journey through the atmosphere and culture of Japan led by an exquisitely animated bunny,” it debuted at the IDFA DocLab last year.

The author describes his piece:

Mizuko Jizō is the guardian of children, especially those dying before their parents and those stillborn, aborted or miscarried. In Japanese mythology, such children are unable to find their way to the afterlife. Jizō saves these souls and hides them from demons in the folds of his robe.

There are 34 scenes that can be visited with a total playtime of about six hours. But usually you will reach the end after about 45 minutes.
