Changing the Media & Technology Landscape with StoryFile

Everyone has a story. Sappho said, “Someone will remember you even in another time.” Imagine being able to speak with your great great grandparents, role models, or thought leaders regardless of where you are. This idea of interactive and experiential storytelling drives Heather Maio-Smith’s work. She is the Co-Founder and CEO of StoryFile, a mobile native cloud-based automatic AI-driven interactive conversational video platform. At the heart of Heather’s work is the underlying need to share, preserve, and experience the stories of humanity. Prior to StoryFile, she explored her interview methodology with the USC Shoah Foundation as creator and producer of New Dimensions in Testimony, a collection of interactive biographies that enables future generations to have conversation with Holocaust survivors. Heather will describe her interview methodology and experiences learned with New Dimensions in Testimony and StoryFile. As the global leader in AI technologies, StoryFile leverages AI to enhance a natural conversation with the video captured on any device. She will also talk about its use in TIME’s immersive project The March, about the civil rights movement.

Heather Maio-Smith is an experiential exhibition designer who has exhibited in Los Angeles, San Diego, Cuba, and the United Nations. Heather is the concept developer and producer of New Dimensions in Testimony, the interviews developed for the public to keep the experience of talking to a Holocaust Survivor possible forever. Heather’s work has been featured on NBC’s The Today Show, The New Yorker, BBC, 60 Minutes and more. She is a Co-Founder of StoryFile, a platform created to allow anyone the opportunity to have a conversation with anyone else, now or in the future.
