Why Museums Need You: The future of games and immersive technologies in cultural spaces
What do museums need from the tech and innovation communities? Lots! Museums are incredible NewTech sandbox spaces with access to wide demographics of visitors for testing. Museums are willing to experiment with AR and VR, immersive theater, games, projection mapping, AI and crowdsourcing. Come by to hear more about what they need… and don’t need… and how our community can help.
Kellian Adams Pletcher is the founder and mastermind of Green Door Labs, an indie games and experience design company that works with cultural organizations to fuse elements of tech and real-world interaction. Since starting Green Door Labs in 2012, Kellian has produced dozens of games at museums and institutions including digital, location-based games with the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian Castle, physical games with places like the Detroit Institute of Arts and TERC and video games with museums like the Peabody Essex Museum and the Boston Children’s Museum. Her software, the Edventure Builder, is used by museums and libraries across the country and you can check out her Boston-based immersive, interactive live theater creations at Club Drosselmeyer.
