Debra Anderson

Debra Anderson is based in New York and is Chief Strategy Officer and Founder of Datavized, an immersive design and technology studio with a focus on data visualization and non-fiction topics in Virtual Reality. She is a Producer/Director specialized in digital storytelling and media impact, building data-driven and research based approaches to immersive experiences and next generation human-machine interfaces. Her pioneering VR film In\Formation, is a 25 minute 360° 3D (stereoscopic) live action immersive documentary about the potential of VR to inspire empathy in its audience. At Datavized, Debra is currently producing high quality WebVR experiences combining immersive visual storytelling, filmmaking, animation, coding and rapid prototyping to build virtual experiences with real impact. She founded the innovation consultancy Culture Shock in 2007; presented groundbreaking interactive works with National Film Board of Canada at Sundance New Frontier (Bear 71) and Tribeca Storyscapes (A Journal of Insomnia, Circa 1948, Do Not Track, Seances) and curated arts/tech projects at Volta Art Fair NY & Switzerland. Debra designed and instructs the first Big Data: Consumer Research course at The New School for Public Engagement and is currently building new curriculum in Immersive Storytelling at Parsons, The School of Art, Media and Technology (AMT).
