‘Chronicle of a Fall’ by Nadav Assor and Tirtza Even

‘Chronicle of a Fall’ is a multi-platform project co-directed by ODL Fellow Nadav Assor and Tirtza Even, consisting of an immersive multi-channel video-installation as well as an interactive VR experience. ‘Chronicle of a Fall’ starts off by asking a group of immigrant cultural workers from the Middle East and Central America: What is Home to you?

The project aims to convey the fractured, transient and partial nature of the protagonists’ experiences, and provide a visceral and intimate insight into their daily lives and domestic environments as they negotiate an increasingly precarious sociopolitical landscape.

To that end each participant in a scene wears their own body camera, and the individual viewpoints are often shown simultaneously. Furthermore, the participants’ spaces of belonging, whether indoors or outside, are captured and stitched together to create a connective space between the varied stories/viewpoints, using an architectural laser-scanner that converts places into 3D “point-clouds.”

Both the installation and the VR experience immerse visitors inside a pointillized 3D world, where they encounter the enveloped and concealed multi-POV video stories of love, loss, and longing.
