Anne Dymek discusses her proposal for a philosophical understanding of the concept of “media realism” as a solely technological, i.e. as distinct from narrative, social or factual definitions of realism that describe the portrayed event of a story. She also takes a closer look at some phenomenological theories of film and photography to hep illuminate her understanding of technological media realism.
Anne holds a PhD in philosophy of film from the Université Paris Panthéon-Sorbonne (Paris 1). The central themes of her research are perception, language, and the accessibility of reality. Anne is currently pursuing a PhD in Germanic Languages and Literatures at Harvard, working on a research project in the philosophy of language. She is the author of “Cinéma Et Sémiotique : Deleuze En Question” (Le Bord de l’Eau, 2015) and has published a number of articles on visual semiotics. Anne is also the editor of the French book series “Signes d’Art”.
